In January 2015, classes were taught in Santiago de la Cruz, outside of Dajabon. Two groups of ten students were taught a one-week introductory class in digital photography.
As Spanish is the native language, a translator from the Peace Corps was arranged. Students’ assignments included a self-portrait, a family portrait, and a shot of their community. The students learned the secrets of photography including perspective, framing, balance, the rule of thirds, and also exposure and lighting.
At the completion of the classes, an exhibition of their work was shared with the school and the local community.
